Surprise!

I found this picture on Etsy and just had to chuckle to myself! Now, this is discreet nursing! Wish I had thought of it so many years ago when my boys were just babes in my arms!

UKO

Unidentified knitted object, that is what I finished tonight. I needed to make a swatch of some Noro yarn for the shop but a swatch was not going to be large enough to show the color change. I decided I would knit a scarf on my favorite pair of straight knitting needles only to decide that I was not into making a scarf and gee, I better do this with just one skein. IN my head is the idea of making a jacket collar, a scarf that could be buttoned at the throat, wrapped around your neck and it would keep the chill from running past your collar and down your neck, Well now, it looks like a deflated, unloved, knit sausage!

Better luck next time and maybe I will stop dropping off to sleep every other row and actually get some creative knitting done!

A Felted Experiment

Felting is one of my favorite things to do with yarn. This piece is knit on size 15 needles with Noro Kureyon yarn, a wool and silk blend. Normally, I only felt with 100% wool but you know how you get a notion.... Anyhow, I think the piece was an interesting idea in creating yarn fabric. I often just knit rectangles and then felt them, add them to my stash and on some winter's day in the not too distant future; I will cut, weave, embellish, sew and make a transformation happen - from a flat piece of knitted fabric to something that can be transformed with soap and hot water. These pieces of felted yarn are to my knitting what paints are for the painter. An element of design!

After felting, the piece has shrunk and bit, making a slightly more dense fabric but very, very soft and draping. I think this would be a lovely way to make a soft fabric for use in a baby's garment.

More Buttons & I am NOT done yet!

I can not help myself! Buttons are offered to me and I become the girl that just can not say no! I know no no! These are Czech glass with hand painted dragonflies. How cool are they? Coming soon - a picture of a gallon ziplock bag filled with buttons found by a friend in Paris!

One More Time - Ediz Hook

I have to do this to you one more time - add another picture of new buttons. These just arrived from the Czech Republic and are hand painted glass. They would make an awesome focal on a bag or jacket lapel or a single button closure on a sweater. We also have the parts in the bead shop that convert them to brooches or necklace pendants. Wow - I really like these dragonflies! They are our state bug after all!

New Buttons

One fabulous closure for a shawl and....

many new buttons! We also have drawers filled with all kinds of buttons! Think outside the sweater, you can add a button anywhere on a garment! Just for fun sew a button on a jacket lapel. It is a true falsehood that a button has to button. Sometimes, it is just for embellishment! Show your flair!
