What to do with bits of leftover yarn? Doll hair! This little doll is actually a brooch made with wool felts, beads and charms. All my knitterly life I have wondered what to do with leftover yarn. I can not stand to see it go to waste so I reverted back to my childhood when I made yarn dolls to play with. Other girls had barbies but I made yarn dolls especially the summer I spent at Aunt Louvie's farm in Bloomsburg, PA. I loved giving them elaborate yarn hairdos and would fashion clothing and clips for their hair. I think I have finally come to the realization that I have had a life long love affair with fiber! Perfect, I am a yarn Diva!

The winter solstice is nearly upon us with tomorrow marking the shortest day of the year. We are still right in the thick of winter and now that all my holiday knitting is done; I am planning the next set of projects I can begin. I love the feel of yarn in my lap as I contentedly knit away and plan in my head the gifts i will give the next holiday, the next birthday. Happy Winter Solstice! Happy Holiday season. HAppy knitting!

This is what inspires me the most about wool felts; the colors! I love that I can work with a color palette that excites me! I envision using all the felt shapes to embellish my felted knit pieces like scarves, purses and hats. Come with me on what will be an interesting, creative and fun journey!
The newly created felt corner soon to grow with even more product. Now, you can embellish your knitted pieces or other work. Look soon for samples that I am busily creating!
Beautiful felted beads in an array of stunning colors!

This is Regina wearing a scarf that I've just knit made with Noro Silk Garden yarn. I love the riot of colors Noro uses in their yarn and the subtle blending and shade gradation they are able to achieve. It is just a simple scarf, knit of row upon row of garter stitch but in the making of this piece, I was again reminded of how pleasurable just simple knitting is. The meditative and calming that knitting has on me is a true joy.

We have anew fixture in Diva! It is a wonderfully textured, vintage style wire shel unit. I bought it from a fellow vendor at Sock Summit in Portland and I added it and another to our FELTING corner. We have such great new roving and felting books that the whole corner has come alive.
Since I think this holiday season will be the one of handmade gifts; a little felted animal would make a great tree ornament. Come in for an idea or two!

This new title in crochet has just arrived at the shop and Cathy made a little star granny square from it. I had not seen a star granny square before and I am delighted at how pretty and unique it is! We have an awesome collection of crochet titles and magazines. Crochet is so exciting this past year and we are seeing design potential that I just never knew existed before. I'll see a picture and think how pretty that piece is and then find myself saying, " that's crocheted?! ". Wow! I feel an awakening coming on....

This is a shot of the Portland Bead Fest display. Judy, Phil and Jacob did a pretty nice job without my creative input! It took me three days of sorting and labeling to make set up easier for them.
A picture of Jacob ice skating while in Portland for Bead Fest. Judy said once he finally let go of the wall around the rink; he wasn't too bad a skater. I used to like to ice skate as a kid but since I only had a friend's used, dull skates; I do not think that I was very good!

I had thousands of things to take pictures of in my yarn shop but I settled on the stitch markers that I make. I love being able to combine my beads with something useful in the yarn business. I also get to use up my odds and ends of beads to make them and I think I have fabulous odds and ends of beads! Some designs are listed on my divyarn.com website but I really enjoy knitting using beaded markers and it is very satisfying when customers purchase them.
